Fundraising Gift
Card&Certificate Program
A
number of schools and churches in the greater Cleveland area have instituted a truly
painless method of raising funds. All major grocery stores, many
retail
stores, gas stations and restaurants offer gift cards and certificates . These stores sell gift cards
to the
organization at a discount, and the organization then sells the
certificates at
full face value to its participating members, thereby realizing a
profit.This
program has been in existence since
1988. Some of the problems faced by the organizations in setting up
this
program on an independent basis have been:
1) The
percentage of discount offered by the
various stores is dependent upon the volume of certificates purchased.
Most
stores require a minimum purchase of $5,000., and in many cases it can
easily
range anywhere from $50,000 to $1,000,000 in order to get the full
discount.
2)
After purchasing the certificates from the
stores, the organization
sells them to participating families which,
depending on the
number of families and their budgets, could take weeks or months before
the
certificates were sold and a profit realized.
3) The
bookkeeping involved would be complex
and time-consuming, and all certificates would need to be logged in and
out by
serial number, and a vast and expensive inventory kept.
Central
Purchasing Office [CPO] has eliminated these problems!
We have
developed a
network of other non-profit organizations who
have been
unable to enjoy the benefits of this program because of the above
mentioned
problems.
1) The
organization places a weekly order with
the Central Purchasing Office by phone, fax or email to our customer
service
department.
2) The
order is filled, then shipped* or picked up on a
designated day.
3) Upon
receipt of order, the customer pays CPO the net
amount due.**
4) The
certificates are then sold by your organization for
profit.
As
you can see, we have been able to make this exciting program
available to the smallest group who would otherwise not be able to
participate.
The beauty of this fundraising program is that the organization never
asks any
of its constituents to purchase anything they don’t need or
do not
already buy.
If instituted and marketed correctly, this fundraising
program can
eliminate the need for all other fundraisers-
no more unwanted candy bars, specialty
foods, soaps, raffle tickets, etc. to buy! Just think, no more sending school
children door to door asking people to buy something they really
don’t
need or want.
